NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. SATURDAY’S HILL CLIMB. A very successful hill climb was held by the New Plymouth Motor Cycle Club on Saturday afternoon. Burton’s Hill, Barrett Road, proved a good test, being in a very rough condition and providing a stiff grade. Some particularly good riding was shown, especially by Mr. F. Sykes. His mount was a ftoyal Ruby of ancient date with a fixed gear of 4*4 to 1. Mr. P. Douglas kindly donated a special prize for the fastest time of the day, which was won by F. Sykes (Royal Ruby). There Was a large attendance of interested spectators. Following are the results:— Machines un to 4 h.p.—F. Sykes (Royal Ruby), 22 l-ssec. ; Hugh Rowe (A.8.C.). 25 2-ssec.; L. Smith (Dougins), 25 2-556 c.; Harold Rowe (Indian Scout). 31 3-ssec.: J. Crockett (Royal Ruby). 33sec.; W. James (Triumph). 36sec. N. Shenperd (2% Indian) failed to reach the top. In the run for second place L. Smith won. Time. 28sec. Machines 5 h.p. and over.—F. N. Huthnance (Clyno), 26sec.; J. Butler (Rending Standard), 28see.: C. Alien (Indian), 28sec. J. Butler won the run off for second place. Time, 25 2-ssec. Side cars with passengers.—T. W. Rowe (Indian), 36sec.; L. A. McHardie (Indian) 36 A slow race for 100 yards up the hill was held. The riders’ efforts to balance their machines in the rough going caused imuch amusement. F. N. Huthnance (Clyno) proved an easy, winner, his time being 68 l-ssec. Mr. P. Douglas officiated with the watch and gave every satisfaction.
