LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Sept. 7, 5.5 p.m. London, September 6. At the wool sales competition continues keen and good clearances of merinos and crossbreds were made at full late rate£; New Zealand "Taratahi” 21d. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated sth instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Wool sales opened Monday. There was a large and representative attendance, and with keen competition the tone was firm and prices ruled in sellers’ favour. Superior merino and fine and medium crossbred improved about 5 per cent.; coarse crossbred remained unchanged. LONDON TALLOW MARKET. Received Sept. 7, 5.5 p.m. London, September 6. At the tallow sales 1706 casks were offered and 608 sold at about 6d decline. Quotations: Mutton, 41s to 355.’6d; beef, 42s to 35s 6d. FOREIGN EXCHANGES. BERLIN AND PARIS. Received Sept. 7, 5.5 pjm. London, September 6. The exchange rate on Berlin is quoted at 5550 and on Paris 56.70. CARGOES MARKET. Received Sept; 7, 5.5 p.m. London. September 6. At Stony River on 29th ult.. all classes sold with a decidedly iunproved tone, the whole yarding selling. Wcaner pigs 13s 6d to 18s Gd, large store pigs 355. yearling steers 26s Gd, yearling heifers 36s 9d to £2 4s Gd, Jersey heifers £5 7s. store cows 14s Gd to 22s 6d. fat cows £4 18s. in-calf heifers £4 to £4 ss, springing heifers £7 5s to £9 IDs, extra choice springing heifers to £l2 10s, dairy cows £ 5 to £B, ewes in In mb 20s. On August 30 we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. G. L. Young. Toko. Implements and sundries made good values, light draught gelding £25, mare £lB. The cows, which were in rather poor condition, made up to £l4 10s. At Waiwak.aiho on 31st ult., a large offering of both store and dairy cattle met an improved sale, a total clearance being effected. Dairy heifers and cows especially, were in better demand. Forward ewes and weaners 23s Gd, store cows 27s Gd to 375, forward cows £2 10s to £3 15s, fat cows £4 10s to £5. yearling Jersey heifers £4 3s to £4 ss. ordinary heifers £2 2s to £2 13s Gd, small and poor quality heifers 275, in-calf heifers £5 2s Gd, springing heifers £7 to £8 10s, quality heifers £9 5s to £ll 10s, springing cows £9 to £l5 10s.
