VICTORIAN REDISTRIBUTION SCHEME. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, September 2. In the House of Representatives the Victorian redistribution scheme, giving ten seats each to the metropolitan and extra-metropolitan areas, was carried on the voices. Mr. Jowett, whose seat disappears, and others, contended that the basis of redistribution should be altered, so that the number of seats should be increased with additional population in lieu of the present scheme. MAKING MR. HUGHES SAFE. Sydney, Sept. 2. It is freely rumored in National quarters that Mr. Parkhill will give way at North Sydney for Mr. Hughes, and that Mr. Marr will retire from Parkes for Mr. Parkhill.
