Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. Mr. R. Masters, M.P., in response to special request, will speak at Feilding to-night (Monday) on the political situation from the Liberal point of view. The meeting, it is understood, is one of the series of similar addresses to be delivered by prominent members of Mr. Wilford’s party in connection with the Liberal offensive in the looming general election. The death took place on Friday at her residence, Hamlet Street, Stratford, of Mrs. Annie Jacobowski, at the ripe age of 88 years. The late Mrs. Jacobowski arrived in New Zealand 47 years ago with her husband and young family, and is survived by her husband, three daughters and one son, the daughters being Mrs. J. Mischeski (Wharehuia), Mrs. Brown (Fenton Street, Stratford.), Mrs. W. Roberts '(Otorohanga), and Mrs. J. Wrobewski (Westland). The interment takes place at Kopuatama cemetery at 2 p.m. to-day (Monday). At the meeting on Friday night of the band, executive appointed by the general meeting on Monday night, it was decided to place proposals before the meeting on Wednesday evening, with the object of raising funds and placing the band, on a sound position with the public and the players, and having the institution beyond the pale of mediocrity for some time at least. Supporters of the band may expect to have something definite to work on as the result of the executive’s deliberations, and the decision of the meeting this week is being looked forward to with much interest.

A meeting of the Inglewood and Stratford Boy Scouts executives was held in Stratford on Friday night, when it was decided to form a district comprising the two troops. Previously the Scouts were organised in provinces, but now any two or more troops may form themselves into a district. Inglewood was represented by Messrs. O’Ctrroll Gamlin, Ayling, Gibson and Messenger and Stratford by the Rev. Howard, and Messrs. J. Masters. T. Richardson, Linehan, Stoneman, Fault, Kerr, Brandon, and Humphrey. Mr. Ayling, Kaimiro, was appointed Commissioner for the district, and Mr. J. Masters chairman of the new executive.
