PARIHAKA BLOCK.

QUESTION OF ROADING. The question of reading the Parihaka block forms the subject of a letter which Mr. S. # G. Smith, M.P.. has received from the Minister of Lands. The Minister states: “In reply, I have to advise you that the following is the position with regard to the .various roads: “Waitaroa Road and Bridge: A portion of the money has been spent on earthworks and culverts, and the balance is available for the bridge and metalling. The bridge is delayed owing to the impossibility of carting the material over a portion of the road. As soon as the road dries sufficiently, the erection of this bridge will be proceeded with. “Puhina Road: A portion of the money has been spent on earthworks, and the balance is available for metalling, for whicii tenders are now being called. “Kekeua Road: A portion of the loan has been spent, and the balance is required for maintenance. “Parihaka Road: The greater portion of the loan has been spent, and the balance is now being expended in completing the formation and maintenance. “With regard to the Newell Road, I have to advise you that I have referred your request to the Hon. the Minister of Public Works for his consideration, and have asked him to advise you of his decision.”
