Bums’ and Laird’s Irish shipping lines have amalgamated. , CREDENTIALS SUSPENDED. Received Sept. 1, 9.55 p.m. London, August 31. The British Government has suspended the credentials of the United States Consul and Vice-Consul at Newcastle-on-Tyne because they abused their official position® to the disadvantage of British interests by refusing to vise the passports of British passengers to America on most trivial pretexts, unless the passengers agreed to travel in American liners. The Consulate and its archives were removed to Hull.
