Mills Company is not now ; being presented. Mr. Doherty states that 369 shareholders expressed themselves in favour of liquidation by sending in to him requisitions for a special general meeting, and this is. in considerable excess qf the number required for obtaining the same, but the retiring directors having been electee} by a substantial majority, and the liquidation, requiring a three-fourths majority to carry it,, he considers the matter should’ be dropped. and is satisfied that a great amount of good will spring from the action already taken. ADDINGTON MARKETS. Christchurch, August 30. - At Addington market to-day there was a very large yarding of beef, other sections being of average size. The beef market held up remarkably well, whilst fat sheep were slightly easier, and store sheep Improved. Dairy cattle met with a dragging sale. Store sheep wore .a small yarding, which includedlines from North Otago and Southland. There' was 'a. very spirited sale throughout, values for wethers and hoggets being an improvement on last week, with ewes about the same. Practically a total clearing was made.

Good halfbred wether hoggets 15s 6d to 17s Id, small 13s lOd, crossbred 14s Id to 15s Bd, good halfbred ewe hoggets 245, small 18s 2d, halfbred 2 and 4-tooth wethers 18s to 20s 2d, cull 14s lOd, crossbred 18s lid, good halfbred 6 and 8-tooth wethers 213 2d, backward halfbred 16s lOd to 19s, forward 22s sd, 4. 6, and 8-tooth ewes 24s 9d to 25s 2d, failingmouthed crossbred 21s, aged 16s to 17s.

Fat Sheep.—Ten races penned, an average entry, which included some well-finished sheep. A good sale eventuated. Three spring lambs sold from 40s to 465. Extra prime wethers 33s sd, prime 26s to 28s 9d, medium 23s to 25s 9d, light 20s 6d to 22s 9d, extra prime ewes 28s, prime 22s 6d to 265. ordinary 19s 9d to 22s 3d, prime hoggets 19s to 20s 6d, ordinary 15s €d to 18s 6d.

Fat Cattle.—An exceptionally big yarding of 450 head, including several North Island consignments. Notwithstanding the heavy entry, the market held up remarkably well, easing only by about 25s per head. Extra prime beef made 37s 6d, good prime 33s to 36s per 100 lb. Extra prime steers £l6 to £lB, prime steers £l3 10s to £l5 10s, steers £lO to £l3 ss, light £G to £9 10g, extra prime heifers £ll to £lO 10s, light £5 to £7 15s, prime cows £7 10s to £9 15s, ordinary £4 10s to £7 ss. In vealers, anything for butcher’s purposes showed another strong advance. Runners to £6 12s fid, vealers £4 to £5 ss, small calves 5s upwards.

Store Cattle.—There was a farily good demand for well-grown steers and young heifers, but other sorts were not sought after. Threeyear steers £3 5s to £5, eighteen months and two-year steers £2 10s to £3, yearlings £1 to £2. eighteen months and two-year heifers £2 10s to £3 2s 6d, good cows £2 to £3.

Dairy Cattle.—Good cows met with a very moderate demand, but aged and inferior were not sought after. All round prices were lower. Good second, third and fourth calvers on point of calving £8 to £ll. medium £3 to £6, aged low-conditioned springers on point of,, calving 10s to £lO 10s, good springing heifers £5 to £8 10s, medium £2 10s to £4 10s. Fat Pigs.—There was a better demand for porkers. Choppers £3 10s to £5, light porkers 38s to 455, heavy 50s to 555, extra heavy £3 (average price per lb to B%d), light haconers £3 5s to £3 15s, heavy £4 to £4 Bs, extra heavy £4 15s 6d (average price per lb 6%d to 6%d). Store pigs were in brisk demand and the entry was disposed of at good prices. Large stores 4Rs to 525, medium 40s to 475, small 30s to 395, weaners 12s 6d to ,22s 6d, extra good weaners 28s, good sows in pig £4 ss. JOHNSONVILLE FAT STOCK SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and Wright. Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale held this week: A full yarding of both sheep and cattle was offered to a large attendance of butchers. The quality of the sheep throughout was good. Some very good lambs also were penned. The ox beef yarded was fair and the cows and heifers were ’ very well finished. A good, keen demand existed throughout the sale. Quotations: Best ox £l6 to £lO 10s, fair £7 17s 6d to £S 12s 6d. stores £4 to £4 15s, cows and heifers £6 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d, cows £5 15s to £6 2s 6d, light £3. Sheep: Best wethers 29s Id to 31s Id, extra heavy 355, good 27s to 28s fld, stores 21s Id, ewes, medium 21s 6d to 213 9d, lambs 20s 6d to 24s Id.
