FIGHTING IN CORK. TELEGRAPH WIRES CUT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, August 31. Telegraphic communication with Cork has been interrupted. Late reports yesterday state that heavy firing was heard in the suburbs. OUTRAGES CONTINUE. HEAVY COMPENSATION CLAIMS. Received Sept. 1, 9.55 p.m. London, August 31. In view of Mr. Cosgrove’s definite assurance that the Dail Eireann will meet on September 9, the Labor Party has withdrawn its threat to resign. An unarmed motor-launch conveying British artillerymen, going to Queenstown to collect the garrison’s mail, was fired upon from the shore of Cork harbor, and four men were seriously wounded. Outrages continue in many parts of Ireland. Compensation claims now amount to £8,750,000.
