THE MEN’S SHIELD. WON BY HAWKE’S BAY. Napier. Last Night. The New Zealand mews hockey shield, which has been held by Auckland Bince 1919. when they took it from Canterbury, changed hands again to-day. .when art ejr iting march resulted m a victory tor Hawke s Bay by six goals to five. TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. The tournament promoted by the Eltham men’s hockey club takes -place at Taumata Park to-day, and premises to be a great success. no fewer than ten teams having entered. As the total proceeds are to go to the benefit of blind soldiers, it is hoped that the public will give their support to such a worthy ajause. The following is the draw for the first round: Eltham B v. Inglewood B: Eltham Boy Scouts v. Eltham C: Inglewood A v. Kaponga B ; Stratford High School v. Eltham Old Boys: Eltham A v. Kaponga A. Players are to be on the ground at 1.45 p.m. The Eltham teams will be as follow: A— Page, Free, Pennington, Davies, Ffethey ; B Astbury, Lambie, Ennis, S. King, J. Pennington: C—Taylor. Edwards. Rogers, Tiplady, Shirley; Old Boys—Primmer, Libeau, Harrison. Clement. Burgess. LADIES’ TOURNAMENT. Napier. Last Night. The matches in the New Zealand ladies’ hockey tournament to-day resulted: — A section.—Eastern Southland 2 beat Feild!ng nfl B section: Hawke's Bay B 3 beat Wairarapa n . Hawke's Bay A 5 beat Mana watu 1. Misses Heaps and Clark scored for Eastern Southland. Hawke's Bay A ran up a good fr.fal against Manawaiu. cut the visiting ~'ls kept the Bay backs busy. Towards th r Manawatu put in some creditable work ~ n d .scored a goc-d goal. Misses Ward (2). Rasmussen (2), and. Lean scored for the winners. Hawke's Bay B scored two goals In the first spell against Wafrarapa. Misses Fisk and Foreman's netting play being very even. In the second half Miss Fisk scored.
