PLEDGES TO FRANCE.
IF GERMANY REFUSES. MORATORIUM QUESTION. By Telegraph.—Press. Assn.—Copyright. Received Aug. 31, 1.20 a.m. Paris, August 30. A semi-official statement, coincident with the arrival of the German delegates, says that in the event of Germany refusing the pledges demanded by France, the only solution in conformity with the Peace Treaty will be the refusal of a moratorium and a declaration of Germany’s default. The statement further declares such an event is inconceivable. The adoption of a mqpatorium without pledges would give liberty of action to France, who would be unable to abandon the position taken up at the London conference.
