TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
MEETING OF ADVISORY BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Technical College Advisory Board was held last night. . Present: Messrs. G. H. Dolby (chairman), J. S. Connett, Hugh Baily, E. H. Tribe, W. G. Reid, A. L. Roberts, and the director (Mr. A. L. Moore). The chairman welcomed Mr. A. L. Roberts, the newly-appointed representative of the Fitzroy School Committee. Mr. Roberts thanked the chairman, and expressed his desire to forward technical education in this town. The director read his report, in which he stated that several pupils had left during the month to fill positions, and that the total roll was now 172. He reported that a successful concert had been held, the proceeds of which would help to pay for those things, such as magazines, prizes, etc., for which a grant was no longer made, and for which the department would not allow to be charged against school expenditure. A resolution congratulating the director and staff on the success of the concert was carried. The director also reported that the inability to obtain consent for the construction of a miniature rifle range was causing much inconvenience, as the cadets were unable to practice, and this placed them at a great disadvantage compared with other schools in the town. The matter was left in the hands of the director. The institution of junior high schools was then discussed.
