PERSONAL.

Probate has been granted in FieldMarshal Sir Henry Wilson’s will for £10,678, all to his wife for her life. It then goes to his children. Mr. Hewlett, headmaster of the Manaia publilc school, has been appointed headmaster of the Woodville school, taking over his new duties at the end of September. Very general sympathy will be felt with the Rev. Oscar and Mrs. Blundell, of New Plymouth, in the death yesterday morning of their little daughter at the age of ten years. She had been seriously ill from pneumonia for some weeks. The death took place at Auckland on Sunday of Mrs. E. C. Salt, formerly of Vogel town, New Plymouth. Her two sons are Messrs. G. M. Salt, lecturer in physics at the Auckland University, and Mr. H. Spencer Salt, musician, of Hamilton. Mrs. E. T. Cox, wife of Mr. S. T. Cox, of Hawera Road, passed away after a short illness on the 24th inst. Deceased, with her husband, came to this district 40 years ago, and they were the original selectors of the farm on which they have lived until separated by death. Mrs. Cox was widely known for her generous and kindly nature. She was a prominent member of the Methodist Church, and was always to the fore in works of charity. The sincere sympathy of the settlers of the district is extended to the bereaved husband and family in their loss of a true help-mate and affectionate mother. The members of the family are: Mrs. M<*lndoe, of Marton; Misses Alice, Olive and Amy Cox, of Opunake; Rev. E. T. Cox, of Gisborne; Wm. Cox, of Manurewa; John C., Thomas S., Ernest and Albert Cox, of Opunake. The funeral, which took place on Saturday, was one of the largest seen in this district, friends attending from over a wide area. Rev. iE. S. Harkness conducted the last sad rites at the graveside, and made special reference to the many good qualities of the deceased.—Hawera Star.
