ACTION FOR LIBEL.
SYDNEY COUNCIL OFFICIAL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Aug. 25, 11.5 p.m. Sydney, August 25. In the Equity Court. Albeft Brigg, city surveyor, annlied for en ex-parte injunction to restrain the City Council from proceeding upon a resolution passed by the council directing an investigation into the c'ty surveyor’s department. The application arose out of writs issued by Brigg on August 1 claiming €2OOO each from the Evening News and Daily Telegranh for alleged libel. The applicant stated that if the council’s resolution was carried out it would greatly prejudice his actions and interfere with the due course of justice. The Court granted the applicant leave to serve a short notice of motion for an injunction on the City Council for Thursday next.
