MUTINY ON STEAMER.
. LINER SET ON FIRE-HAND-TO-HAND STRUGGLE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 24, 5.5 p.m. Rome, August 28. A mutiny occurred on the steamer Philadelphia, tons, now Greekowned, at Naples, preparatory to sailing for New York carrying returning tourists. The crew pillaged a hold containing valuable merchandise and set fire to i the vessel. The officers retreated to the bridge, and, after a hand-to-hand struggle, fired several revolver shots among the mutineers. A detachment of Carbineers was summoned. They opened fife, subdued the riot, and arrested 150. The vessel is still burning, and hundreds of firemen are pouring m water.—* Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
