ATHILETIC AND CYCLE UNION.
1 TARANAKI CENTRE. ANNUAL MEETING. | The thirteenth annual meeting of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycle Union, ■ Taranaki Centre, was held at Eltham on Monday night, Mr. A. J. Hansen presiding. Seventeen delegates from differ - . ent clubs were represented, being much : larger than the previous year, showing j that clubs see the advantages of joining ! up with the centre. j The report showed that thirty clubs j were granted permits throughout the I year, which ends in July of each year. The balance sheet showed a credit of £53 16s, after paying off all liabilities. Election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Patron. Sir Walter Carncross. Eltham: president, Mr. R. Kaponga: delegates to annual conference of head | bodv at Eltham. Messrs. Hansen. Burke. , and' Pater«on ; also Mr. Nuttall, who 1 is a member of the executive of that I body. It was resolved that clubs retain Is 'of the season’s registration fees this year instead of 6d as before, and that club’s affiliated must give authority in I wirting for delegates to attend annual ’ meetings or their proxies. The securing of badges was left in the hands of the executive. It was resolved that tlw* executive ap- . point one of its members to attend to • every sports meeting throughout the ! centre, and club officials are asked to assist those members of the executive in seeing that meetings are run as they ! should be in the true interests of sport. A meeting of the executive was held • after the annual meeting. Mr Hansen was elected chairman *or the ensuing vear. A letter was received from Mr. T. Walker, of Midhirst, who was dis* oualified last year, to ha*p the disqualification lifted Tt was resolved that it be a recommendation to the New Zealand body to reinstate him at their annual meeting. * A letter was also- received from H. Escreet. Takapu. re hi* disqualification being removed. It was resolved that the centre still adhere to its previous re- , solution until such time as he fulfils his ' obligations. I Arrangements were mad? for entertaining delegates who are coming from all parts of New Zealand to attend the conference, which takes place at Eltham i ‘ this year on September 14 They are '•to be given a civic reception by the Mavor (Mr. G. W. Taylor) at the BorI ough Chambers, where the conference is I to h? held.
Several remit’ have gone through from the centre to be discussed at this meeting. One places the onus entirely upon a competitor to prove his identity . As most of the delegates are staying a dav or two in the district, members of the executive are placing cars at their disposal, so that they can see some of the country.
