PRICES FOR CATTLE.

A CLEARING SALE. Yesterday Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., epnducted a clearing sale on behalf of Mr. Esmond Greig, Pukearuhe. The catalogue included a small herd of pedigree Jerseys of undoubtedly good breeding, but as tlicy were lacking a shade in condition prices were rather lower than might otherwise have been realised. Buyers were present, from ail parts of Taranaki, but the bulk of the cattle were disposed of to local buyers. The highest price reartsed was for the cow Bessie”s Furo (Belvedere Bilberry’s LastFurious Maiden), which <ent to Mr. S. Ridgley, Pukearuhe, fop 41 guineas. Mr. Ridgley also secured Hurstholm Lass (Galicia—Mahoc’s View) for 21 guineas, while Hurstholm Golden Lassie (Paratawhite Butter Lad—Prim of Beechlands) went to Mr. H. L. Spence, Mangorei, for 40 guineas. Little Swan’s Queerue (Beechland's Little Swan —Avocas Queenie) realised 31 guineas, Mr. G. Baker, Waitoitoi, being the buyer. A heifer. Hurstholm Dainty (Queenie’s Little Swan—Hurstholm Lass) went to Mr. H. New Plymouth, for 25 guineas, and an aged bull. Tiny’s Boy (Golden Lea f—Tiny’s Jewel) was bought by Mr. W. R. Leighton. Pukearuhe, for 20 guineas. A herd of grade Jersey cows, in better condition than the pedigree, and a number of which were in <m!lk, sold mostly between £l2 and £l7 while some good quality farm horses brought up to £34. In addition a wide range of farm Implements in good order sold very well. A Fordson tractor and automatic plough was disposed of for £125 to Mr. F. Gamlin, Kaupokonul
