AUSTRALIAN CONFERENCE. I'ARMERS’ ACTION AS TO SHEARERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Aug. 22, 11.15 p.m. Sydney. Aug. 22. An important conference of trade unionnsts, representing the Commonwealth, has been convened for the 23rd inst., to discuss the increase in hours of work to 48 weekly' and the reduction of wages; also the future action to be taken in the event of the unions disagreeing with these measures. The conference will decide whether it wifi hand the whole matter over to the der to put out a policy for the whole moveCommonwealth Council of Action, in orment in Australia. The Farmers’ Conference adopted a resolution condemning the action of the Australian Workers’ Union in refusing to carry on shearing under the terms of Mr. Justice Power’s award, and recommending that, if the trouble is not settled before the conference rises, all branches of the as sociation be called upon to send volunteers to the various districts to complete the shearing.
