FARM MATTERS.

POSSIBILITIES OF WIRELESS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dannevirke, August 21. A novel use for wireless was suggested at the quarterly meeting of the Southern Hawke’s Bay branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. A member suggested that country and other schools be equipped with a wireless receiving apparatus, and that to each of these daily would be wirelessed weather reports, local market rates for stock produce, etc., so that the pupils could inform their parents of news of importance to farmers, which at present a backblocks settlement could not receive I until too late to be of practical value. I The meeting endorsed the suggestion. In connection with Nauru phosphates it was decided to recommend the Government that the cost of distribution be capitalised and the phosphate distributed to all parts of New Zealand at a uniform cost, also .that different dairy companies be asked whether they would finance small farmers requiring assistance in buying Nauru phosphates. The meeting also decided to support the Southland Farmers’ Union request that farming interests be excluded from the Arbitration Court awards.
