CHARGE OF FRAUD.
TELEGRAMS ON HORSE RACES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. Frederick John Rendle and Walter Goodyer were charged before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to-day, “that on July 15, at Feilding, with intent to defraud, they did falsify telegrams relating to Some Fashion and Romance at the recent Trentham meeting, and thereby obtain from William Prince sums of £260 and £65.” Prince, the chief witness,, was indemnified by the police from any prosecution relating to obets. Voluminous evidence was given by 33 witnesses, the case lasting all day. Both pleaded not guilty and were committed for trial at the next Supreme Court at Palmerston North.
