Patterson won the first three games, then the scores alternated Patterson’s services were untouchable, but his returns were going into the net. In the second set Alonzo won the second game to love, and the fifth, makthe score 4—2. The hitting was fast and free. In the third set Alonzo won the first game (Patterson cutting his returns) and the seventh, but the Australian’s speed told in the others.
