Mr. Walker withdrew his censure motion. Brisbane, August 18. The Premier gave notice of his intention to introduce a Bill to enable absent members, on supplying a medical certificate, to vote by proxy. Sydney, August 18. A fire at the hydro Majestic, at Medlow Bath, caused damage amounting to £40.000. The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning, and fanned by a terrific gale, it soon got out of control. It destroyed the famous corridor and art gallery, and finally left half the building in ruins. Sydney. August IS. The returns of the Meat Board disclose a profit for the past year of £60,000. Melbourne, August IS. As part of the civil service reform, it is proposed to remove all public servants in receipt of over £3lO annually from the operation of the Public Service Arbitration Act. The Government does rot see any method of reducing the apiaries of public servants without grave injustice.
