NEW MACHINES ORDERED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, August 17. _ The Daily Mail states that the Air Ministry has placed the first orders, to the value of £300,000, as part of the scheme for 500 machines for home defence. The machines ordered include a great all-metal machine, weighing 15 tons. Another is an improved aerial troop transport, to accommodate 25 soldiers with equipment. Others include a i huge multi-engined bomber, which can manoeuvre like a small scout, a metal single-seater fighter, fleeter than anything yet built, and several flying ships capable of flying at a high speed and r'.ding rough seas.
