The Kahika, with 904 tons of general carg from southern ports, arrived early yesterda morning, hut rain delayed progress, and th vessel will not sail till to-day, going to Pic ton, Onehunga. Wellington- and Dunedin. Sb leaves the last named 'port on her next tri north on Friday, August 25. JOHN FROM LYTTELTON. The steamer John (342 tons) Is announced to load general cargo at Lyttelton to-day for Wellington, Wanganui and New Plymouth, being due here next Wednesday. The agents (Messrs. S. Holm and Co.) are extending the service permanently to this port. EASTERN SEA. Tt was hoped to dispatch the Eastern Sea from Wellington for New Plymouth to-day, but the New Plymouth agents (Messrs. Newton King. Ltd.) received telegraphic advice yesterday that owing to the rain the vessel has been delayed and will not now leave Wellington till Monday at the earliest, arriving here on Tuesday or Wednesday. As the Kaikoura is expected at New Plymouth on Monday to discharge and load, and will be In port about a week, it is probable that the Eastern
Sea, which has a. benzine cargo from New York to discharge, will have to wait out In the stream for the greater part of a week. THE RARAWA. The Rarawa, with passengers and 100 tons of general cargo, arrived from Onehunga yesterday morning, and returned to that port last evening. ' • KAMO’S MOVEMENTS 1 The Kamo was to leave Dunedin at 5 o’clovu * last night for Now Plymouth via the usual ■ southern ports, omitting Nelson. She is due j here on Thursday, and an endeavor will be . made to get her away the same day for Nelson.
KATTUNA LEFT NEWCASTLE. The Kaituna left Newcastle on Thursday with 1400 tons of coal for New Plymouth, and should arrive here about Tuesday afternoon or early on Wednesday. OVERSEA MOVEMENTS.
