LOSS ON RAILWAYS.
DAILY DEFICIT REDUCED By Telegrxrh —Press AssocistionWellington. Last Night. In the House to-day the Minister of Railways made a statement on the position of railway finance. The daily loss >n thi whole service for the period end•d Jify 22 was £2753, compared with £4774 in August last year. Thia was iue largely, to the economies practised. There was no indication that the limit yf the decline in traffic had yet been reached, but the Minister was hopeful ►Wr the improvement in the general trade conditions would before long be reflected in the railway receipts.
