The Berlin correspondent of the Daily Express points out that the banned play entitled “Dismissal,’* by Emil Ludwig, biographer of Bismarck, is founded on direct quotations from unpublished documents, and contains the following quarter-century old dialogue, when Bismarck unsuccessfully recommended the renewal of the Rueso-German Alliance. Bismarck: Then must Germany fight on two fronts and go under. The Kaiser: I how to prevent that. It is my kingdom to play with. Bismarck heatedly replied: Yes your Majesty, but Germany was born before you entered the world and, as long as I breathe, I shall know how to protect it.
