STEAMER DECLARED “BLACK.” By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 17. As the result of the recent dispute about the reduction of the wages of men engaged, on the Tuianekai and the action of the Marine Department in signing on a permanent crew, the ship has been declared black by the Seamen’s Union. The men have joined the ship at a reduction on the old wages of £1 per month, and the action is strongly resented by the union. CHARGE AGAINST ACCOUNTANT. Hastings, August 17. Montague Thomas Sabine Pasley, accountant for Hoad ley, Son and Stevart, merchants and auctioneers, appeared this morning charged with stealing £76, the property of the firm. At an inquest a verdict was returned of suicide while .temporary of unsound mind.
