FROZEN MEAT SLUMP.
AUSTRALIAN INVESTIGATIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Aasn.—Copyright. Sydney, August 15. Mr. Jowett. a member of the Federal House, has returned from a visit to England, where he made extended investigations in to the causes of the slump in Australian frozen meat. He found that the chief causes were the large accumulations of frozen beef held by the Imperial Government, and the enormous arrivals of Argentine chilled beef, but probably the worst cause of the depression was that a great prejudice had been created against frozen beef of every description. This arose through the British Government, during war time, securing frozen meat from any possible source, much of which was of inferior quality, with the result that unpopularity became attached to any form of‘frozen meat.
Mr. Jowett urges the great need of propaganda to remove the prejudice. He visited various parts of England and did all possible to remove the prejudice and popularise frozen meat.
