JERSEY CATTLE CLUB.
MEETING OF MEMBERS A meeting of the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club was held on Teusday, Mr. Frank Ranford (president) presiding over an attendance of 20 members. The president explained the conditions governing the bull show to be held on the A. & P. grounds on October 12. A resolution was passed that it be a recommendation that no transfer be given for any animal whose upset price is less than 10 guineas, irrespective of age. A discussion ensued as to the prices to be charged to vendors for selling stock at these.sales, it being generally thought, that the price has been excessive in the past. The classes* in the Jersey section at the forthcoming show were discussed, the president advising membars that the New Zealand Jersey Association was subsidising amounts raised by members of the club up to £25 on a 10s in the £1 basis. He pointed out that it was necessary to make the schedule as attractive as possible, and asked members to subscribe to the prize fund in connection with the local show. Over! £2O had already been raised, and it was hoped to considerably augment that amount before the schedule was finally compiled.
A vote of sympathy with Mr. T. Hamilton, who is in hospital as a result of a recent motor-cycle accident, was passed. The hope was expressed that Mr. Hamilton would soon be well and able to take up his dut’es again.
