THE SPORTS GROUND.
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Sports Ground Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs. A. L. Humphries (chairman), L. B. Webster, G. E. Jago, H. A. Shelford, G. H. Saunders, F. C. Ferry, F. J. Hill, J. Kenny, H. Townsley, J. McLeod, G. Jackson, A. L. Roberts, J. Garcia, L. Little (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. C. E. Bellringer, H. Dempsey, and W. C. Weston. It was resolved that the ipatter of obtaining earth for top-dressing the playing area of the sports - ground be left in the hands of the chairman. The resignation of Mr. J. E. Avery as a member of the committee was accepted with regret. An application on behalf of the New Plymouth Cricket Club for use of the ground for cricket during the season was made by Mr. G. H. Saunders.—Held over. The watersiders asked for the use of the ground on August 26, to play the Wanganui watersiders. —It was pointed out that the ground was engaged on that date for the Kaponga-Tukapa match, and it was decided to suggest that the game be played on a mid-week day. The chairman stated that thfe custodian had reported that the sports ground was left in a very untidy state owing to the
large number of dodgers advertising certain fixtures having been distributed.—lt was decided that no dodgers will be allowed to be distributed in future, unless provision, is first made for cleaning up the ground afterwards.
