TO-DAY’S BIG MATCH. AUCKLAND v. TARANAKI. An interesting afternoon's football is promised enthusiasts of Taranaki at Pukekura Park, Nc*v Plymouth, this afternoon. The chief interest is being taken in the match between Taranaki and Auckland representatives, always a most popular fixture with the Taranaki pvfblic, and both teams are expected to give bright displays. (Earlier in the afternoon there will be two important curtain-raisers. Taranaki and Auckland have met on 36 occasions, Auckland winning 24 matches and Taranaki 9, whilst the other three have been drawn. Taranaki has scored 205 joints, whilst Auckland has scored 371 points against Taranaki. To-day’s teams will be as follows: AUCKLAND (blue and white). Muir, Thomas, Ifwerson, Matson, McManus, Grant, Earl, Nicholas, Peters, Bagnall, Hilander, Marshell, McWilliams, McDonald, Taylor. Reserves: Back, Earlly; forward, 'Somerville. TARANAKI (amber and black). Coutte, Vaughan, Marks, ,Stohr, . Johnson, Robertson, Lynskey, Malone, McCullough, Fryday, Fogarty, Hunt, West, Hammersley, Campbell. Emergencies: Birehall, Brien (forwards) ; Ennis (back). At 1.30 p.m Clifton will meet New Plymouth. High School in the final of the junior championship for the northern division, and an attractive match should result At noon the premiership of the primary schools will be decided between Stratford (winners of the central division) and Waitara (winners of the northern division). Waitara has so far been unbeaten, whilst Stratford has played 10 matches and only lost one. That was a game outside the competition, in which they were opposed by a team comprising boys who are playing in the fourth grade competition. They have scored 145 points and have only had a few points put up against them.
