TIKORANGI DAIRY COMPANY.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of shareholders of the Tikorangj Co-operative Dairy Factory Company was held in the Tikorangi Hall yesterday, Mr. C. Foreman presiding over a fair attendance of shareholders. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet (already published), the chairman congratulated the shareholders on the prosperous year they had just passed through. It. had been a strenuous year. In the early part of the season things looked bright for produce, but later prices went down again. However, prices again took an upward trend, and they were at the present time going down slightly. Jhe prospect for the coming year looked bright. In 1921 the factory had macle 150 tons of cheese, while last year 221 tolls were manufactured, an increase of 46 per cent. The cost of manufacture had gone down from 21-3 d in 1921 to Ifd in 1922. The output for July and August had been sold at 1/9 f.o.b. New Plymouth. He read a report from Messrs. Collett and Co., Ltd., who handled the company's output, giving a very high opinion of the produce, certain shipments being stated to be as near perfect as possible. This, said the chairman, should be very gratifying to the manager, the shareholders and the directors. The cost of wages had been reduced ftom £762 in 1921 to £738 in 1922, and expenses were down from £576 to £461. The average milk test in 1921 was 4.02, while in 1922 it w*as 4.2. The report was adopted. HERD TESTING. A shareholder asked if anything had been done to secure the services of a herd-tester. The chairman said he thought an endeavor would be made to revive the herd-testing association. There was a feeling among many of the suppliers that they should have a tester. The ■farmers desired to test their herds, so that they could get the best out of the land. Mr. Faull suggested that the testing might be done through the factories, although he agreed that the manager could not carry out the testa. The chairman said it was for the meeting to forih a committee and secure a tester if the association was to be revived. . ... . ... On the motion of Mr. Faull, it was decided to appoint a committee of three or five to initiate a cow-testing association, and Messrs. C. Foreman, L. Faull and P. Warren were appointed. GENERAL. The retiring directors, Messrs. J. Whitehead and C W. Sarten, were .reelected to the directorate, and Mr. L. Faull was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr. J. Foreman. Mr. A. J. Tunbridge was re-appointed auditor. The chairman was votOd an honorarium of £5O, the amount being the same as last year. The manager and staff and the directors were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their services.
