RECIPROCAL TARIFF.
REGRET AT DELAY. By Telegraph.—Pte°s Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, August 8. Mr. Rogers expressed regret at the delay in ratifying the treaty between New Zealand and Australia. New Zealand did her part, but the real business of the Federal Parliament had been blocked by futile censure motions and general opposition. The Minister added that, in the interest of the commercial community, the agreement should be ratified this week. Mr. Rogers, advocating the ratification of the New Zealand treaty during the present week, said that many substantial orders, which would involve special shipping arrangements, were pending. These were much more important to the community than the futile discussions in Parliament.
