ENTERTAINMENTS.
EVERYBODY’S. Mrs. Alfred Sidgwick’s popular novel, ‘‘The Kinsman,” forms the basis for a highly entertainfhg picture of the same title at Everybody’s to-night and tomorrow. Made by the English Hepworth studios, the featured players are Henry Edwards and Chrissie White, supported by an unusually brilliant cast. The story has many high lights of jocular entertainment, dealing as it does with the impersonation of a supposedly dead heir to a large fortune by a distant cousin, a typical cockney, whose likeness to the heir is remarkable. Love, romance and adventure have their part in a feature which has all the elements of popular entertainment. The production of “The Kinsman” is well nigh perfect, and the picture can day claim to being one of the best English 'features turned out. THE PEOPLE’S. To-night will see the final screening, of the Fox double feature bill, including “Gleam o’ Dawn,” starring John Gilbert, and “Little Miss Smiles,” with Shirley Mason in t’jc lead. Both pictures are of more than average interest and provide quite an enjoyable evening’s entertainment. The new programme for tomorrow is headed by a Universal special feature, “Tracked to Death,” a powerful drama with the popular Frank Mayo in the lead. THE EMPIRE. “THE AFFAIRS OF ANATOL” TO-NIGHT. The Cecil de Mille special picture, ‘ The Affairs of Anatol,” reached New Plymouth last evening and will be presented for the first time at the Empire to-night. Twelve stellar players and a supporting cast of unrivalled quality—that’s the record set by Cecil B. 'De Mille in “The Affairs of Anatol.” The roister reads like a who’s who of the screen. The phrase “all-star cast” is a much-abused one, but it adequately describes a cast that includes Wallace Reid, the famous Paramount star; Gloria Swanson, Elliott Dexter, Bebe Daniels, Monte Bue, Wanda Hawley, Theodore Roberts, Agnes Ayres, Theodore Kosloff, Polly Moran. Raymond Hatton and Julia Faye. Nothing like this cast in the way of aggregate talent has ever been assembled before. The drawing power of any of the names on the roll has been sufficient to awaken the interest of the discriminating public. Here, for the first time, they are appearing in a single production under the direction of a master-producer, Cecil B. De Mille. The box plans are at Collier’s.
