INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a very pleasant gathering at the Inglewood School on Tuesday afternoon, when Mr. P. M. Glenie, acting for the chairman of the School Committee, introduced Mr. D. Lyall, the newly-appointed headmaster of the school, and Miss Jemison, the new infant mistress. Mr. Lyall suitably acknowledged the introduction, expressing the hope that the kindndss of their welcome was a good forecast of the pleasant relations which he trusted would obtain between all parties while he is in Inglewood. He hoped that when parents had any actual, or even imaginary grievance, they would come direct to him for explanation, and not waste their time talking over their troubles amongst themselves. The gathering then partook of the excellent afternoon tea which the ladies had provided. A very pleasant gathering was held at the Inglewood Convent School on Thursday afternoon, when, in the presence of the Sisters who conduct the •school, and n number of friends and par* ents of pupils, a most enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental music was given by the school members. A very hearty vote of thanks for, and appreciation of, the patient care and interest shown by the teachers in their pupils’ progress was carried by acclamation in response td the call of Mr. Eagar. In compliance with requests made, Mrs. Evans (librarian of the Inglewood; public library) has opened a subscription list at the library, supplementary to that started by the Daily News, in laid of the family of the late F. Kirk. Already the sum of £6 Is has been placed on the list, which will remain open till Saturday, the 12th inst. The tease is a deserving one.
