ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE THEATRE. ‘ THE AFFAIRS OF ANATOL.” Cecil B. De Mille’s productions are famous for the ultra-fashionable players, but it remained for “The Affairs of Anatol,” the latest production, which commences a three nights season at the Empire next Tuesday, to set a new mark in this respect. An important contributing cause to the general effect is the remarkable assemblage of feminine players. A cast with the following names of well-known stars figuring in the one picture is entirely unprecedented in the annals of screen entertainments: —Gloria Swanson, Wanda, Hawley,. Julia Faye, Bebe Daniels, Agnes Ayres, etc. All these stars are famous for their fashion flaire, both on and off the screen, but even here the scope is considerably widened when it is said that the plot has been carefully prepared and wonderfully treated. When a man is kept waiting •an hour to breakfast, while his wife is calmly enjoying an ultra-luxurious, toilette, he is’ more than apt to get sore. In fact, Anatol De Witt Spencer did, and so began the “affairs” of Anatol. When his delectable little wife sought to mol-

lify him with kisses, his anger grew, hut Vivian, his wife, never stopped to reflect that there might be too much “honey in the honeymoon,” or perhaps she might have acted differently. The theme, however, is based on an absorbing problem of matrimony and a subsequent divorce, and the unravelling of the solution is handled in a tactful and exceedingly clever manner. Box plans are now open at Collier’s, where seats can ibe booked for either night.

EVERYBODY’S. SENNETT COMEDY AT THE v MATINEE. . “Home Talent,” the special 5-reel Mack Sennett comedy, will be the attraction at the matinee and night sessions at Everybody’s Theatre to-day. “Home Talent” has been described by one critic as “the comedy that will put dimples in the Cheeks of the world.” It may not suit those people who consider laughter vulgar and sinful, for it certainly provides continued mirth right throughout its five reels. Ben Turpin heads the cast, and with him there are one hundred of the Sennett beauties who alone provide a dazzling treat for the eye—especially of male patrons. The picture comes enthusiastically proclaimed a masterpiece of humor and art, and one of the -best that Mr. Sennett, who has never turned out a failure, has yet contributed to the merriment of the nations. The supporting pictures include “The Dying Detective,” another gripping story of the Sherlock Holmes series. THE PEOPLE’S. “TRUANT HUSBANDS.” Possessing, a light but engrossing theme, “Truant Husbands,” which is screening' at the People’s to-day and tonight, should make a wide appeal to all. In the spring-time, it is said, a young map’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, and this sent has had the stamp of approval of the ages. But when the young man is married, and the direction of his thoughts are not wifey, it is inevitable that trouble will arise, and so it is in this comedy drama. The part of the errant husband is ■flayed 'by Malilon Hamilton in one of his happiest roles. Betty Blvthe, the charming screen actress, is the other principal of the cast in a pleasing portrayal. Supporting films include episode No. 8 of “Thunderbolt Jack,” comedy and topicels. The prices remain as usual, viz., D.C. 1/6, stalls 1/-, children 6d to matinee.
