Press telegrams from New Zealand state that only 1 per cent, of the immigrants are not placed. Mr. Cameron, who is .giving up the oversight of emigration to New Zealand in October, interviewed, stated this was a gratifying result, due to the rigid system of selection. All emigrants must give an asurance that they are going cither to work or to friends until able to obtain work. No encouragement is given to casual laborers. Mr. Cameron said the records show that during the past year, apart from 7000 nominated migrants, over 350 paying passengers. with capital aggregating a million, proceeded to New Zealand.
