After being on the defence for seme time Taranaki gradually gained ground, and Henrickson missed a goat by inches. Until the end of the spell Taranaki kept Wairarapa hemmed in, but there was no score. Wairarapa made things lively on opening the second spell, Evans saving for Taranaki. Keeping up the pressure. Wairarapa hustled T. Bennie, who cleared beautifully. Then Tunnecliffe found an opening and landed a goal. Roth sides became over-eager, ana a number of penalties followed for sticks. Taranaki worked towards their objective and missed several shots. One shot by Briggs was cleverly diverted by Wallis. C. Bannin =was playing well for Wairarapa.
