WESTOWN AFFAIRS.
EXTENSION OF THE TRAMS. MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Weetown Progressive Association was held last night, Mr. J. S. S. Medley presiding. Various matters of interest to the suburb were discussed. Gratification was expressed at the fact that the Borough Council was going to take a poll on the question of the extension of the trams to Westown. Mr. V. C. Davies stated the residents at the top end of the district felt they had a good, claim to urge that the trams should be extended as far as Omata Road. He pointed out that the number of residences there at present, with those about to be erected —as well as the traffic to the reserves at Ratapihipihi and at Rotokare and the nursery—would more than justify such an extension. The question of the hall site was further discussed and the sub-committee was given full power to act in the matter. The action of the executive in guaranteeing to find £lOO towards the purchase of the pro, posed school site was approved, speakers stressing the need for additional educational facilities in the district. It was decided to again draw the Borough Council’s attention to the necessity for a light being placed at a point in Cutfield Road, where there is a dangerous bank. The council will also be impressed with the necessity for repairs to the Tukapa -Street. crossing at Belt Road.
