The death is announced in an Auckland telegram of Professor Frederick Douglas Brown, for 30 years professor of physics and chemistry at Auckland University and a member of the Senate, retiring from both positions in 1914. He was aged 70.
A London cable reports the death of Mrs. Owen Vi«sger, author and journalist, who at one time was a resident of New Zealand.
Mr. G. J. Park, director of the Wanganui Technical College, has been appointed director of the Auckland Technical ■College.—Press Assn.
Advice has been received that the condition of the Rev. Father Sanderson, of Pahiatua, is still very serious. Three doctors, in consultation, expressed their opinion that there was a slight hope for his recovery. Mr. George Toms, of the staff of the Hawera Post Office, who has been promoted to be postmaster at Urenui, left Hawera on Monday to take up his new duties. On Friday evening he was presented by the Post Office staff with a handsome clock, and his fellow-workers wished him every success in his new sphere.—Star.
