SHEARERS’ DISPUTE.
NO NEARER AGREEMENT. By Teieffrapn.—rres« Assu.—wp.vri«m. Blenheim, Last Night. The Marlborough shearers’ dispute was heard before the Conciliation Council tolay. The Commissioner (Mr. Newton) pointed out that meetings concerning th's •ndustry had been held by the council nt Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, and in other districts, and in no instance had an agreement been reached in regard to wages. Vfter discussion a number of machinery clauses were agreed to and wages and several other matters were referred to the Court. The representatives on both sides expressed themselves in favor of a Dominion conference of the parties, and, if ?his was arranged, it would appear there are good prospects of a full settlement of the dispute.
