The resumption of trade with Germany was officially operative to-day, but as an additional safeguard against dumping over and above) the stiff antidumping regulations, the proclamation prohibiting the entry of goods from former enemy countries without the consent of the Minister of Customs will not be revoked for the present. All German goods landed will be carefully investigated, and if it is considered their importation constitutes a danger to Australian manufacturers the Tariff I Board will take the necessary action, i A rush of goods is not anticipated. So far only one cargo has reached Australia, and no more is expected for several weeks.
