FLIGHT TO POLE.
CAPTAIN AMUNDSEN’S PLANS. POSTPONEIVTILL NEXT YEARBy Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright London, July 20. The following wireless message has been received from Captain Amundsen: Nome, July 28. —Just returned to this position from Point Lay, where I found the ice broken up. In order to save time the Maud will proceed from Point Hope to “her drift across the Polar basin, while Omdal Lund and I are going on board the American schooner to which the big aeroplane has already been transferred, to Point Barrow. On account of the advanced season and unfavorable conditions our flight across the Polar basin may be postponed till June, in which case Lund and I will winter at Point Barrow. Ask the Spitsbergen authorities to keep in touch with the Maud- All well. Nome. Alaska, July 31. Later radio messages from Captain Amundsen state that bad weather has postponed the aeroplane flight to the North Pole until next year.
