AFFAIR AT RAHOTU.

A DISTRESSING OCCURRENCE. RESIDENT WITH THROAT CUT. A distressing affair occurred at Rahotu on Sunday night, when a man named Charles McGregor, aged 63, was found lying on the floor of his residence with his throat cut, evidently by a razor. When the man was found the police and a doctor were communicated with, Constable Ryan being soon on the scene, whilst Dr, W'att (of Opunake) arrived about an hour later. After rendering all the assistance possible, the doctor ordered the removal of McGregor to the New Plymouth hospital, where he is at present lying in a very sen* ous condition. Early this morning hie condition was unchanged. McGregor is a married man, living wish his wife and family at Rahotu, conducts a saddlerv business, besides befog engaged with a small dairy farm. On Sunday night he was at home with his family and a visitor, and appeared to be in his usual good health. Business matters were being discusesd, when McGregor left the room,, apparently to procure a document. As he was absent for a considerable penod. a member of the family went out to look for him, and found McGregor lying on the floor with his throat cut.
