RIOTS IN ITALY.
REPUBLICANS AND FASCISTI. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—copyright. Rome, July 26. A conflict between Facisti and Republicans occurred at Ravenna with serious consequences. It was followed by a Fascist throwing a bomb against a house occupied by the Republican Club. The Republicans retaliated and, in the midst of the fighting, the police appeared on the scene and began to fire on those fighting. Ten were killed and fiftywounded. It is significant that only one Fascist was killed; the remainder were Republicans. The district is in a state of ferment and the situation is tense.
[The Fascisti originally consisted mostly of men belonging to Returned Soldiers’ Associations who were anxious to keep order. The body has now become a source of danger to the country owing to its lack of discipline and constant attacks on Socialists.]
