PIERROTS’ EFFORT.
ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Pierrots, who are undertaking a special effort next week to raise money for the Unemployment Fund, was held last night, Mr. H. Brookman presiding. Final arrangements in connection with the campaign were fully discussed. Mr. J. McLeod intimated that the Sports Ground Committee would undertake the arranging of the community singing on the Wednesday night, and they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their offer. The preparation of the floor for the hardup social on Tuesday evening was left in the hands of the Pipe Band, who volunteered to do the work. Mr. Bennoch reported that- arrangements were well under way for the euchre party and dance on the Thursday night, and tickets were now ready. It was intimated that Webster Bros, had offered the use of their mart for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Mr. Robertson said a good response had been made towards the Paddy’s mart on the Friday. The conduct of the butcher’s shop was left in the hands of Messrs. Robertson, Mcßae and Webster, it being announced that the public could rely on obtaining all their week-end supplies from the butcher’s shop. It was reported that Mr. Zemba (of the New Plymouth Soft Goods Manufacturing Co.) had offered to make pierrot suits at the nominal sum of 1/6 each, and any pierrots requiring these are asked to hand their names in to the secretary.
