LAST QUARTER’S FIGURES. A DECREASE IN REVENUE Less expenditure incurred. By Telegraph.—Press Association Wellington, Last Night. The public accounts for the quarter ended June 30 show receipts as follows: Balance at beginning of quarter. £4,824,954 Ils 2d; cash in public account, imprests outstanding in hands of officers of the Government, £62,967 13s Bd‘; in London, £284,261 5s lOd on account of other Governments on account of Imperial pensions investment account, £2.359,183 8s Od. Total, £7,531366 19s 2d. ORDINARY REVENUE. Customs, £1,151,301 5s 8d; stamp and death duties, £777,715 9s sd; postal and telegraph revenue, £731,759 0s 4d; land tax, £48,868 18s Id; income tax, £99,429 9s 10d; beer duty, £140,249 4s 8d; railways, £1.483,543 19s lid; registration and other fees. £33,922 3s; marine, £11.388 2s 4d; miscellaneous, £196,214 8s 3d; territorial revenue, pastoral runs’ rents and miscellaneous, £21,979 10s 4d: national endowment revenue, £95,156 Ils 3d. Total, £4,791,528 3s 2d. Recoveries on account of expenditure of previous years, unauthorised, £238 8s 4d; temporary transfer to Public Works fund, now restored, £500,000. Grand total, £12,823,133 10s Bd. For the June quarter last year the total was £10,671,403 10s 3d. EXPENDITURE. The expenditure on permanent appropriations, civil list, was £5919 16s lOd; interest and sinking fund, £2,944,950 10s 4d; under special Acts of the Legislature, £156,892 18s ’dd; subsidies paid to local bodies, £10,907 14s 3d: subsidies paid to hospital boards, £91,333 8s lid; amounts paid over to local bodies and to deposit accounts and payments under Land Acts, £1134 14s 2d; endowments New Plymouth Harbor Board, £1535 4s 6d; Pensions Act, 1913, and old-age pensions, £122,570 8s 3d; widows’ pensions, £30,279 3«; military pensions, £5919 18s 7d; War Pensions Act, 1915. £249,083 Is lOd; miners’ pensions, £4725 10s 4d; transfer to advances to other Government account, £30,000. The balance at the end of the quarter was made up of £1.745,483 Is 9d cash in public account; imprests outstanding in hands of officers of the Government. £1,192,547 15s 7d; in London, £151,511 15s 8d; on account of other Governments on account of Imperial Pensions Investment Account, £1.730,183 8s 6d. Total balance. £4,819.726 Is 6d. Grand total, £12,823,133 10s Bd. The total for the June quarter last year was £13.671.403 10s 3d, less a balance of £5,590,033 7s sd. PUBLIC WORKS FUND. The Public Works Fund for the quarter shows receipts £3,751,752 9s sd, including the balance at the beginning of the quarter of £429.682 9s 7d. The amounts received from various sources totalled £2,520.950; transfer from Consolidated Fund, £500,000; and other small amounts. The expenditure was £1,616,973 9s 4d. the balance in hand being £2,134,779 0s Id.
