FRUIT-GROWING INDUSTRY.
MATERIAL HELP WANTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. During the conference of the Farmers’ Union to-day the president (Mr. Polson) stated that in company with a deputation from the Dominion fruit-growers he waited upon the Premier (Mr. Massey). The deputation liad told Mr. Massey that they all knew the Government wa«j up against it and was compelled to retrench, but yet it was a matter of life and death to the fruitgrowing industry that some material help should be forthcoming for fruitgrowers. Mr. Polson said Mr. Massey was very sympathetic in his reception of the deputation and had promised to do what he could to help -their cause. Mr. Polson was very much of opinion that the interests of fruit-growers had been materially advanced by their interview with Mr. Massey.
