LABOR WINS BY-ELECTION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received. July 27, 55 p.m. London, July 26. A by-election for the Pontypridd electorate of Glamorganshire, due to the sitting member (Mr. T. A. Lewis) becoming a Coalition-Liberal whip, resulted:— M. Jones (Labor* 16,630 T. A. Lewis (Coalition-Liberal) 12,550 The loss of the seat was due to the miners’ vote, the miner* believing the present position in the r-oal industry was due to Government bungling. [At the genera 1 election the results were: Lewis 13,327, D. L. Davies (Labor) 10,152, A. Seaton (Unionist) 260.]
