DAILY NEWS AGENCY. ■ • ■■■— Advertisements and items of news for publication in the Taranaki Daily News should be left at the our local representatative, Mr. W. H. Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may aiso be left with him. GENERAL ITEMS. July 26. A special meeting of the Stratford High School Advisory Board was held last night for the purpose of considering the sub-divieioir of the 14 acres of school property surrounding the Technical School, A report from Mr. L. A. Trobe, Director of Technical Education, dealing with the new school, was received, and will be dkcussed at the next meeting. The fencing committee submitted a. report dealing with the permanent sub-division of the property, embracing football and hockey grounds, lawns, caretaker’s area and a horsepaddock for scholars. The report was adopted, and the work will be proceeded with immediately. Messrs. Boon, Hunt and Boeoek were appointed a sub-com-mittee to carry out the work. Estimates and designs for two front gates for the main entrances were submitted by a sub-committee. The wedding took place to-day at the Roman Catholic Church, Stratford, of Miss Maud Kennedy, niece of Mr. J. Kennedy, East Road, and Mr. Fred Doherty, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Doherty, of Okato. and formerly of Toko. y The Rev. Father Maples officiated, and the bride was attended by Miss Roley Kennedy as bridesmaid. THE KING’S THEATRE. TO-NIGHT ONLY. While David W. Griffith in his “Greatest Question” presents a tremendous problem for the thinker, he has above all made a wonderful, thrilling entertainment out of the story of simple people. It is his contribution to the burning topic of the hour, the great mystery that has engrossed more writers, thinkers and speakers than ajiy other since the world began—Do the dead return from the grave? Griffith’s answer is his production of “The Greatest Question.” This great picture alone is a generous entertainment, but in addition a further attraction is provided in Charlie. Chaplins milliota dollar comedy. “A Day’s Pleasure,” one that is calculated to bring roars of laughter from a house composed entirely of sphinxes. As the head of the household, consisting of a plump little wife and two chubby miniatures of himself, and with the aid of the family auto, a Ford, and a weird one at that,' which “auto” go and mere often won’t, Charlie is supreme. From the moment he cranks up his ram'ly conveyance until he returns homo, leaving a wild trail of disaster behind him. l»e is simply irresistible. A whole day s round of whimsical absurdities, all the funnier because they are so probable, crowded into 30 minutes of uncontrollable laughter, will furnish enough food for humor to last many a long day. The l>ox plan is now open at Humphrey’s. Usual prices will be charged for this big double feature programme. Children half price.
