The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Piako arrived off New Plymouth at 11 a.m. yesterday. The harbormaster (Captain Wm. Waller) boarded her at 11.30 and had the vessel alongside half an hour later. The Piako, which was built in 1918, is a vessel of 8283 tons gross, 5126 tons nett, length 462 feet, breadth 58 feet, and depth 32 feet. On entering port the vessel was drawing 21ft. lOin. forward and 22ft. 6in. aft. Captain D. Urquhart is in command, .and has associated with him the following officers: Chief, Mr. ( E. P. Aslin; second, Mr. O. P.. Owen ; third, Mr. F. AV. Parker; fourth. Mr. C. P. Jackson; surgeon. Dr. H. Rugg; chief engineer, Mr. P. Wilson ; second, Mr. D. Shier; third, Mr. E. Percival : fourth. Mr. F. Walker; fifth, Mr. W. Dundas; sixth, Mr. C. Wallace; seventh, Mr. W. Spiers; cadet, E. Higgins; wireless operator, Mr. Batchelar. The Piako is taking from the port 12.000 freight carcases of frozen meat for Liverpool, 5000 freight carcases for Glasgow, and •16 casks of tallow, the loading of which was eonvnenced early yesterday afternoon. The local agents (Union S.S. Co.) advise that the vessel will sail for Wellington on Friday evening and sail for West Coast of England ports on Wednesday. COAL FROM WESTPORT. The Waimea, with 350 tons of coal, arrived from Westport yesterday morning, and after discharging sailed for Wellington at 8 o’clock last .night. KAITUNA FOR GREYMOUTH. The Kaituna sailed for Greymouth at 3.30 ' p.m. yesterday afternoon, where she will load •1 timber for Sydney and Newcastle. ARAWA’S SAILING DATE. The Arawa, whose departure for London was ' delayed owing to a slight outbreak of fire, is announced to leave Wellington en route to London at daybreak on Wednesday, August 9. OVERSEA MOVEMENTS.
